Expression of Interest – Legal Assistant (TPD & Income Protection) – Join Our Specialist Team and Support Meaningful Work

We have an excellent opportunity for a motivated Legal Assistant to join our specialist TPD and insurance claims team. Experience in TPD, income protection, superannuation disputes, or personal injury/insurance law support roles is highly regarded, but we also welcome candidates with strong general legal administration or assistant experience who are eager to develop in this practice area.


In this role, you will work closely with senior lawyers and paralegals, assisting with file management, client communication, document preparation, and administrative support across a range of TPD and income protection matters. You will play an important part in helping our team deliver efficient, accurate, and supportive legal services to clients who are navigating complex insurance claims.


While this role is offered full-time, we are open to discussing flexible or part-time arrangements with exceptional candidates.

We’re looking for someone who is proactive, organised, and committed to excellence. You’ll need strong administrative and communication skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks in a busy environment, and a keen eye for detail. A collaborative team spirit and a client-focused approach are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality administrative and secretarial support to lawyers handling TPD, income protection, and insurance claims.
  • Prepare and format correspondence, claim forms, court or tribunal documents, and client communications.
  • Manage incoming calls, emails, and client enquiries, ensuring professional and timely responses.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date file management, both electronic and hard copy, in line with firm policies.
  • Assist with diary management, scheduling appointments, and coordinating client meetings and mediations.
  • Liaise with clients, insurers, superannuation funds, and external providers to obtain documents and information.
  • Process invoices, manage billing, and support the team with compliance and reporting requirements.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team culture by assisting colleagues and sharing knowledge.

Key Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Legal Assistant, Legal Secretary, or Administrative Assistant within a law firm (insurance, superannuation, or personal injury experience highly regarded).
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a busy legal practice.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with professional client service focus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with legal practice management software.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and time management.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently with minimal supervision.
  • A proactive and flexible attitude, with commitment to excellence in support delivery.
