Expression of Interest – Senior Associate (TPD & Superannuation Claims) – Lead and Make a Difference

We have an excellent opportunity for a confident and motivated Senior Associate to join our specialist TPD and insurance claims team. You will bring strong experience in TPD, income protection, superannuation disputes, or related insurance litigation, and be ready to take on a leadership role within a high-performing practice.


In this role, you will work closely with the Legal Practice Director, managing a caseload of complex TPD and superannuation claims, and mentoring junior lawyers and paralegals to help develop their expertise. You’ll play a key role in strategy, client management, and dispute resolution, with the support of a collaborative and highly skilled team.


While this role is offered full-time, we are open to discussing flexible or part-time arrangements with exceptional candidates.


We’re looking for someone who is not only technically strong but also commercially astute and client-focused. You’ll be self-motivated, organised, and committed to achieving outstanding results. Leadership, mentorship, and the ability to manage a busy practice while maintaining high attention to detail are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of complex TPD, income protection, and superannuation dispute matters from initial instruction to resolution.
  • Provide strategic legal advice to clients, ensuring clear communication of rights, entitlements, and potential outcomes.
  • Lead negotiations, mediations, and dispute resolution processes with insurers, funds, and stakeholders.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support junior lawyers and paralegals, ensuring professional development and quality service delivery.
  • Draft and review detailed legal submissions, correspondence, and settlement agreements.
  • Liaise with medical professionals, financial experts, and third parties to strengthen client cases.
  • Oversee compliance, file management, and workflow efficiency within the TPD & Superannuation practice area.
  • Contribute to team leadership meetings, business development, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Requirements

  • Minimum 5–7 years PQE in TPD, superannuation, insurance litigation, or related areas.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, insurance policy interpretation, and dispute resolution.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a complex caseload and achieve positive outcomes.
  • Proven leadership and mentoring experience, with a commitment to team growth and collaboration.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex legal issues.
  • Commercial awareness and client-centric approach to practice.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal practice management software.
